Our Art and History galleries are being renovated!
In order to launch these renovations the Gallery of California
Art and the Cowell Hall of California History have closed temporarily.
School tours will continue; please note the following:
- Because of space limitations, all self guided tours must now be
scheduled through the Docent Office, 510-238-3514;
- History tours and programs in 2008-09 will take place in a
new exhibition, The Art and History of Early California, adjacent
to the Natural Sciences gallery;
- Art tours and programs in 2008-09 will take place in the temporary
exhibitions: L.A. Paint and Squeak Carnwath: Painting
is No Ordinary Object.
- The Natural Sciences gallery will continue to offer a full
range of tours and programs;

School tours
and programs are offered in California art, history and natural
sciences. The Museum's School Programs Guide presents
an in-depth description of all resources available to schools
and
teachers. You can view and print the complete
program online in PDF format, or to order a copy, email
or call the Docent Center at 510-238-3514. The range of educational
offerings includes programs in the classroom and museum. Classroom
exhibit materials include suitcase exhibitions for grades 4-8 and
a natural sciences lending collection.
